Mk48.io is a multiplayer naval combat game you play right in your web browser. You start with a small warship and earn points by collecting crates from the sea and sinking other ships. Spend them on upgrades through ten levels of ships, from torpedo boats to destroyers, battleships, submarines and aircraft carriers. There is nothing to install and no account to create: press Play and you are at sea.
How to play Mk48.io
- Steer by holding the right mouse button, or the left one. Your ship turns toward the cursor, and the farther away the cursor is, the faster it goes. WASD or the arrow keys also steer, and X stops. On a phone or tablet, touch in the direction you want to go.
- Fire with a click of the left mouse button, Space or E, or with a tap on a touch screen. Choose a weapon group with 1 to 6, or cycle with Tab.
- Collect crates by sailing into them. Sinking a ship also scores, and it leaves floating loot behind.
- Upgrade once you have enough points: pick a bigger ship at the top of the screen.
- Team up. In Fleet FFA, form a fleet with other players from the panel at the top left; members of a fleet cannot hurt each other. In 2 Fleets, every player sails for red or blue.
- Climb the ranks, from Ensign through Lieutenant, Commander, Captain and Colonel to Admiral. At the top rank you keep more points when you sink.
How do sensors work?
Every ship spots others with some mix of sight, radar and sonar. Radar cannot see below the surface, and sonar cannot hear anything in the air. Press Z to switch your sensors between passive and active. Active sensors show you more, but they give away your position, and homing weapons lock on to you more easily. Bigger ships are easier to detect, and passive sonar hears more when you move slowly, because your own noise drowns it out.
Tips
- Grab crates when damaged. Each one repairs your ship a little and speeds up reloading.
- Upgrade with care. A bigger ship runs aground more easily, damaging it.
- Stay passive to stay hidden. Switch to active sensors when you need to find a target, then switch back.

Press Play with friends to get an invite code. Share it, and your friends join you on the public server or on a party server of your own.
